Here’s Everything You Need to Know About the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack

April 11th, 2019 by

The modern Dodge Challenger is 60’s muscle reimagined; a powerful machine with an old-fashioned sense of style but a completely modern engine under the hood and all the latest high-tech features in the cabin. The 2019 Challenger’s long list of trims primarily offer performance and engine upgrades as you go up the list, and the R/T Scat Pack is the highest trim level you can get before you reach the top-tier SRT options. Here’s some of what you get when you get the 2019 Challenger R/T Scat Pack.

A V-8 Engine

The 2019 Challenger has no fewer than five engine options depending on which trim you choose. For the R/T Scat Pack, that engine is the 392 V-8 HEMI engine. This engine delivers 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, and that’s with natural aspiration. It gives the Challenger a 0-60 time in the low 4-second range, and it can complete the quarter mile in around 12 seconds. You can add a Multi Displacement System to the engine as an option, and this feature saves on fuel by shutting down some of the cylinders when you don’t need them.

High-Performance Parts

It might not get all the best performance parts the SRT trims have, but the Challenger R/T Scat Pack has some serious upgrades over the regular R/T trim. While lower trims give you a 160-amp alternator with an available upgrade to 180 amps, the R/T Scat Pack starts you with a 220-amp alternator. You also get a high-performance suspension with solid responses, and you can upgrade to the adaptive damping suspension that comes standard in the SRT trims. With adaptive damping, your Challenger can give you a smooth and responsive suspension at the same time.

Launch Control

The 2019 Challenger R/T Scat Pack is also the first trim to come with the available Launch Control with Launch Assist and Line Lock. Launch Control lets you set the rpm when you want to leap forwards into first gear, and Line Lock holds the front brakes down so you can spin the rear tires and warm them up for a drag race. Afterward, you can use the Performance Pages section of your infotainment system to check out how you did. Of course, all these features are only for use on a closed track.

A Roomy Interior

Like other Challenger models, the R/T Scat Pack has more interior space than you’d expect from a two-door pony car. Despite the coupe body, the Challenger has room for five passengers in the back row. Those passengers won’t feel too cramped even if you fill your Challenger with five adults. Even the trunk has more space than you’d expect, with 16.2 cubic feet for groceries or golf clubs. The only sports car with more space is the Dodge Charger, and that’s a full-size sedan.

The 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack is a high-end trim with a powerful V-8 engine under the hood, and it comes with the performance parts and features you need to take full advantage of everything it gives you without the high MSRP of the SRT trims.
